Protective equipment (chemical contact)
Chemical substances are used in cleaning and disinfection. Personnel should therefore be protected against skin or eye contact with cleaning products and disinfectants. Here, we present the most essential components of personal protective equipment (PPE): protective gloves and goggles.
Protective glovesGloves are essential for cleaning staff who come into contact with chemicals or contaminated surfaces. They fulfil two important functions: They protect against harmful chemicals and germs, and they also prevent cross-contamination from room to room. In this second regard – particularly in rooms where a high level of hygiene is required – there are two rules to observe: Change disposable gloves every time you finish cleaning a room. Disinfect reusable gloves every time you finish cleaning a room. We recommend the following products:
Our high-quality Wetrok nitrile disposable gloves (available in various sizes) offer reliable protection and are characterised by the following properties:
- High protection against chemicals, germs and a large proportion of viruses, bacteria and fungi
- Tearproof
- Hypoallergenic (no latex, no powder)
- Oil and grease-resistant
- Durable
- High tactile sensitivity
- Comfortable to wear
- Tested and certified in accordance with EN 455 (European standard for medical gloves for single use)
- Tested and certified in accordance with MDD 93/42/EEC (European standard for medical products)
- Also suitable for cleaning in health facilities
Our high-quality Wetrok reusable gloves (available in various sizes) also ensure a high level of hygiene – only when combined with thorough disinfection, however. As with disinfecting your hands, the gloves must be disinfected with a hand sanitiser once you have finished cleaning. We recommend bringing a disinfectant with dosing pump. Our reusable gloves are characterised by the following properties:
- Reusable (more sustainable than disposable gloves)
- Maximum protection against chemicals, germs and a large proportion of viruses, bacteria and fungi
- Extremely comfortable and less clammy, thanks to flocked cotton lining
Note: Our recommendations are aimed at cleaning staff who are NOT in contact with COVID-19-infected persons (risk of droplet infection) or contaminated rooms (risk of infection via contaminated surfaces), and who DO NOT work in operating theatres. In this case, more extensive protective measures are needed (e.g. exclusive use of disposable gloves, more frequent changing, sterile disposable gloves in the operating theatre, etc.). The same applies to cleaning staff working in hygiene-critical premises (abattoirs, food production facilities, etc.).
All work areas in which cleaning staff come into contact with chemicals require the use of protective goggles. We recommend our high-quality Wetrok protective goggles with the following properties:
- High protection against chemicals, dust, UV rays, and mechanical and thermal influences
- Additional lateral protection
- Individually adjustable temples (length and height) for optimal comfort
- Can be worn over prescription glasses
- Tested and certified in accordance with EN 166 (European standard for eye protection)
- Limited protection against infectious droplets and sprays
Note: Our recommendations are aimed at cleaning staff who are NOT in contact with COVID-19-infected persons (risk of droplet infection) or contaminated rooms (risk of infection via contaminated surfaces). In this case, more extensive protective measures are needed (e.g. fully sealed protective goggles). The same applies to cleaning staff working in hygiene-critical premises (operating theatres, abattoirs, food production facilities, etc.).
